What is an Outlet Mattress Store?

Outlet mattress stores specialize in offering mattresses at a discount. Outlet locations are also sometimes referred to as clearance centers. Mattresses may be marked down for a number of reasons, including:

• Overstocked products from previous collections
• Floor models previously displayed in Mattress World Northwest showrooms.
• Discontinued mattress models
• Older inventory being cleared to make room for new mattress collections.

Outlet stores are typically eager to move these mattresses, so they’re offered at a discounted price.

Keep in mind that not every outlet location will have the same models and mattress sizes in stock. If there is a clearance mattress you have your eye on, we recommend calling ahead to make sure it’s still in stock.

Are Outlet Mattresses Used?

Not necessarily. Still, you should know that some clearance center mattresses being sold are brand-new, and they’re just marked down to make room for new models or to free up warehouse space. However, clearance center mattresses aren’t always created equal. Before you make a purchase, it’s important to find out if the mattress is new, a floor model, or is being sold “as-is.” That way you’ll know exactly what you’re getting.

Are Outlet Mattresses the Best Deal?

Outlet mattress stores can offer major savings, but outlet doesn’t always mean the best deal. Clearance centers offer savings on floor models, overstocked products, and discontinued mattress models. If you’re open to purchasing a discontinued mattress, or even a floor model, you can potentially walk away with a high-quality mattress for less than you’d normally pay.

Make sure to factor in the overall condition of the mattress, delivery fees, and any other applicable costs. And be sure to ask about exchange policies and warranties, as these can vary from store to store (especially in outlet locations).

If you’re trying to find the best mattress deal, be sure to comparison shop and check out what promotions are currently running at regular Mattress World Northwest showrooms. We often have great holiday sales events, and we may even be able to match any manufacturer promotions. It’s not out of the question for you to find a new mattress at a regular Mattress World Northwest store for less, or even the same price, as what you’d pay at a clearance center. What Should I Ask Before Buying a Clearance Mattress?

As you’ve already learned, not all clearance mattresses are created equal. Do your research and be sure to ask the right questions to find out if a clearance mattress is the right fit for you:

Why is this mattress on clearance?

Asking why a mattress is marked down can help you get a better understanding of the reasons behind the discount. Some clearance mattresses are discontinued or overstocked products, while others may be floor models or even have light scuffs or stains to warrant additional savings.

Are the mattresses new or floor models?

Some clearance mattresses are new and still in their packaging, while others may be floor models that have sat in showrooms. If you’re considering a floor model, be sure to examine the mattress to make sure there aren’t any signs of wear, tear, or staining.

Does the mattress have a manufacturer warranty?

Depending on the manufacturer, discontinued or floor model mattresses may no longer be covered under a warranty. Be sure to ask about mattress warranties, and if they’re different than standard warranties, before making a purchase.

Outlet Deals At A Regular Mattress Store? Sure Thing.

You don’t have to visit a dedicated mattress clearance center to find outlet mattress deals. Many regular Mattress World Northwest showrooms offer clearance inventory, discontinued models, manufacturer promotions, and seasonal sales. While the selection may be different from a dedicated outlet, these stores can still be a great place to find discounted mattresses. Want to see what else is available? Browse our mattress collection to see the brands, styles, and prices before visiting a showroom.

Delivery Cost

Another thing to consider when shopping at a clearance center is delivery, setup, and haul-away fees. The mattress may be a great price, but those added fees could impact the total. It’s always a good idea to ask about delivery fees and the cost to remove your old mattress if you have one. Then you can figure out the out-the-door total before making your purchase.

Promotions change often, clearance products vary from store to store, and sizes are limited, so if you have a particular mattress in mind, you can even call ahead to see what’s available in your area. At Mattress World Northwest, we have showrooms throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington, giving you even more places to score a great deal. While each store’s promotions may vary, many of our stores have access to closeout products from a nearby outlet store so you can shop for new mattresses and take advantage of outlet pricing.

Mattress Outlet FAQs

Wondering what makes a mattress outlet? Learn more about outlet mattresses and mattress outlet stores:

Are outlet mattresses new?

Not always. Some outlet mattresses may be customer exchanges, discontinued models, or floor models. Others may be new overstock or discontinued style mattresses. Be sure to ask!

Why are mattresses cheaper at outlet stores?

Mattress outlet stores are clearing old inventory to make room for new stock. Rest assured that just because a mattress is marked down at an outlet store doesn’t mean there is something wrong with it.

Do outlet mattresses come with warranties?

Some do. Manufacturer warranty coverage varies from mattress to mattress, so be sure to ask us about a mattress warranty before purchasing.

Can you exchange an outlet mattress?

It depends. Mattress exchange policies vary from mattress to mattress. Clearance items are often final sale. Some clearance items can be exchanged, however, so be sure to check with your mattress store.
